Celebrating the Centenary of Jordans Village

On Sunday 23rd July, around seventy people attended a concert at Jordans Meeting House in celebration of the centenary of the founding of Jordans village. Music that ranged from Handel and Bach to Delius and Stravinski was provided by Jane Faulkner (violin), Esther Cavett (piano) and Victoria Barrett (oboe), while the story of the village was narrated by Catriona Troth and Bob Hall. Catriona had very much enjoyed delving into the archives at the Jordans estate office to uncover the stories of the pioneering Quakers who built the village – and finding the photos which were projected on the wall behind the performers.

The audience – especially villagers – were very warm in their appreciation, and declared it a fitting end to a weekend of celebration.
