Our focus is on our way of life rather than a dogma or creed. It rests on the conviction that we all have, within us, a direct link to a guiding Light or our Creator. In the stillness of our Meetings we open our hearts and lives to new insights and guidance.

Children
Children are welcome at our Meeting House but we have no regular children’s class. If you wish to bring your children please contact us so we can make appropriate arrangements to welcome them.

Buckingham Worshiping Group
Some of us, in the Buckingham area, meet for Worship every Friday from 10:00 to 10:30. We meet at one of our homes and there is time for tea and a chat after the worship. Please message us for details if you would like to join us.
Mid-week Meeting for Worship
On the second Thursday of every month some of us meet for Worship in the Meeting House from 6:00 to 6:30 pm. This would be ideal place to start if you are not sure you can handle an whole hour of silent worship.
Our Climate Vigil
This Meeting for Worship takes place in Aylesbury Market Square from 12:00 to 1:00 pm on the fourth Friday of each month. Learn more.
A Quaker Meeting for Worship can take place anywhere, at any time. Our meeting house is important to us but we don’t think of it as a sacred place. It is not somewhere we have to go to find God or The Truth. It is simply a shared place where we can come together. Nor is Sunday the only holy day of the week, all days are equally holy and worship should not be confined to just one day a week.
Other Things We Do Together
Being part of a Quaker community is more than just worshiping together on Sunday. Knowing and supporting each other is important. These are things we do regularly together.
People exploring what it means to be a Quaker are welcome to join us in any of these activities. Although they have different purposes our use of silence and our way of worship remains part of everything we do. See our meeting calendar for details.
Sharing and Learning
Once a month, on the third Sunday, we come together again, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, to explore something specific in the life and growth of the meeting.
Pastoral Group Meetings
Every month we get together just to be social and enjoy each other’s company along with coffee and cake. On the second Thursday some of us get together in the Meeting House from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. There is also a pastoral meeting on the third Thursday at 11.00 am in Haddenham Garden Centre.
Meditation Meetings
Every Wednesday a group of us meet at 12:00 on Zoom to share a meditation on a topic of interest.
Our Background and History
Quakerism began nearly 400 years ago in the North of England. These early Quakers preached that every one of us can experience inner light, or the voice of God, without needing a priest, or the Bible. They also preached that religion should be something one lived and acted out every day. How each individual chooses to act, if it is driven by this inner light, is valid. Learn more of our faith.
Quakerism grew during the English Civil War and the subsequent changes in religion, politics and our society. This helped it spread rapidly throughout Britain, as it gathered people who were convinced by its radical ideas.
We know Aylesbury people have been part of this movement since the middle of the 17th century. At first Aylesbury Quakers met in Weston Turville. However, by 1689 we were meeting in the town and by 1727 the current Meeting House had been built on Rickfords Hill.
Today Aylesbury Quakers still live in the town or one of the nearby villages and towns. We too are convinced that these Quaker insights and our Meetings for Worship are a sound guide for our lives in todays world. We value our different spiritual backgrounds and what they bring to the meeting.
